In 2025, Cancer Support Community Montana (CSCMT) welcomed the integration of Lightwell Foundation’s efforts, further enhancing the resources and support available for children diagnosed with cancer and their families.

For more than a decade, CSCMT and Lightwell Foundation partnered to provide critical financial, emotional, and social support to families navigating pediatric cancer. Recognizing their shared mission, Lightwell Foundation chose to dissolve as a nonprofit and entrust CSCMT with continuing its impactful work.

As Chris Darnell, CEO of Cancer Support Community Montana, expressed, “We’re honored that Lightwell Foundation has entrusted us to carry on their legacy of supporting children with cancer and their families. This integration allows us to enhance our wrap-around services and ensure families have even greater access to the care and resources they need.”

Founded in 2014 by families directly affected by pediatric cancer, Lightwell Foundation has been a beacon of hope, providing essential support to families in the Gallatin Valley. Georgia Lukkes, Board Member of Lightwell Foundation, shared: “Lightwell was created in cooperation with and support of local parents who understood the challenges of a pediatric cancer diagnosis firsthand. Over the years, the community has supported us in profoundly impacting families in need. Handing the baton to CSCMT ensures that our mission continues and grows, strengthening the support available locally and statewide.”

By incorporating Lightwell Foundation’s work, CSCMT reaffirms not only its commitment to providing support to children with cancer and their families, but also to instilling hope and ensuring no one in Montana faces cancer alone.
